Fountains Abbey

Spent part of today at Fountains Abbey, an old monastery which fell victim to Henry 8th. During its heyday it was one of the most important religious centres in England. Founded by Cistercian monks not only was it a place a worship but the century of a huge business with a portfolio which included lead mines, farming and sheep rearing.
Today it’s just a ruin but a spectacular ruin set in beautiful countryside, it’s worth a visit just to walk through the nearby gardens or to stop for a picnic in the grounds.

We spent the last two day in the North East, dropping a car off with my brother prior to him taking his holiday. On the way back we stopped at the Abbey and had a lovely time.

To be honest, now that I have pretty much secured a new role I am able to relax and enjoy this time with my family and look forward to working with a wonderful company. Ahead if this, my household to-do list seems to be growing at an alarming rate!
