More domestic stuff & thoughts on customer service

After yesterday’s news I can afford to relax slightly and continue to work on the house, so today brings a not so exciting visit to B&Q and various furniture shops.
B&Q are an interesting business and the one thing that has always struck me (apart from the awful F&B) is the totally helpful and friendly staff. I have never visited one of their outlets and been less than impressed with their service, this is partly because they were one of the first businesses to go out and actively recruit older people, people who had got to the stage where working 5 days a week was probably too much for them but who could still make a valid contribution across a couple of days a week. The maturity and thoughtfulness as well as politeness hat they brought to the business has had (in my view) a very positive impact. Mind you, I still think that they should do something with their cafes…..perhaps a Nero or a Costa!
Anyway, I digressed somewhat from telling you about my exciting day ( to your relief I would imagine) where I will be coming further work in our loft….see! Told you it was exciting…..anyway, we want to get envy thing finished by the end of the month so that we can take some time as a family before I start working (and travelling) again.we are also busy planning the next few years as I believe that I am joining a company where I have a long term future and whilst this role is not as large as some that I have done, I will be working with an exciting brand in an interesting territory.

More later (when I get bored of the loft)
