Just saw an interview where my old boss Henry (from my Leon days) was speaking about the part which he has played in the plan to offer free school meals to every child. I think it’s a great idea as proper nutrition can actually be life changing. Our bodies are just not built to take on all of the processed food that has become the staple of most people’s diets. When I was trying to lose weight, the best advice I was given was to eat a “cave man” diet, this involves eating food which is in its most natural state for example, a leg with the skin removed and grilled is a great, low calorie source of protein, the same piece of chicken, covered in flour and deep fried is a great way to eat yourself into an early grave.
Our lives are just so busy and people have to work so much harder to make ends meet that a simple idea such as proving your child with a free school meal (as long as its not a turkey twizzler) is something that I am sure will really help.
It’s great to see Henry involved in this project, anyone who knows me will know that I am a big fan of Leon, I love the food and the ethos behind the company and I enjoyed my time working there, I was not there long (I left for personal, non business related reasons) but I have stayed in touch with people who still work there and try to find time to see Henry whenever I can. Their idea of “healthy fast food” is a good one and their passion for fresh, local and natural ingredients manifests itself in their delicious healthy meals. Sadly, now that I am based in Cheshire I don’t get to eat there as often as I would like.
