Commencing my studies

I longed onto my e-learning site for the first time yesterday and started to go through the induction materials for my course. I am reasonably confident that I can complete a module every three months although if I wish to complete the whole course I will have to plan to finish two modules simultaneously.
One thing that I have realised is that I am going to need to plan my study time quite carefully on a weekly basis. I am putting together a timetable for my self based on my work patterns so that I can be sure to include 12 hours of study time and set my self some targets around task completion.
Yesterday was spent setting up my profile on the site, reading the student handbook and reviewing what is required if me through the induction. I studied for two hours and the time flew by as I was really engrossed on what I was doing. I also plan to make lots of notes both to record the time spent in that session and achievements.

At this stage the task appears daunting with 8 modules and a dissertation to complete. The modules look interesting and I am especially looking forward to tackling things such as marketing and change management although the finance module will be a challenge!

Reading the news last week I noticed that Cote restaurants had finally been sold at the end of a protracted process. I was fortunate to spend some time with the two guys behind Cote (that also founded Strada and more recently Bill’s) and enjoyed their company immensely. I was left very much in awe of both what they had achieved and they way they came across as individuals.
