I tend to enjoy team meetings, probably because I usually delegate the task of note taking to one of the team. There is a legitimate reason for this (and it’s not because I’m lazy) which is that my writing is not legible, and when I say that it’s not legible I mean that even I can’t read it.
Anyway, I try and make meetings interesting and as light hearted as possible and whilst you do need to ensure that you come away from the meeting feeling that you have got through your agenda and achieved something it’s also important for people to come away feeling energised and motivated.
It’s always difficult to involve everyone in the discussions as some people are naturally reluctant to express opinions in a group, getting to a place where everyone can make a full contribution to a meeting takes a little time and involves working one on one with people to encourage them to take an active part. I also believe that having a decent agenda and giving people time to think a out their contribution is also helpful.
It’s nearly the weekend and I’m looking forward to spending it with family and friends, we are having a belated celebration of Alex’s first birthday as I wasn’t around for his actual birthday (at least I’m consistent as I wasn’t there for his birth either) so on Saturday a bunch of us getting together to celebrate.
