I was interested to see that BHS are planning to start selling food in their stores, it sounds an interesting development and an avenue well worth exploring for them. It was interesting to contrast Arcadia’s like for like sales (up circa 2.2%) with the Restaurant Groups which were up over 9%, this is just part of a trend which appears to show hospitality growing at a faster rate than retail.
I’ve written before about the lack of feel good factor around the country despite the ever encouraging economic data, part of this is probably the London effect, I would be interested to see GDP growth figure for the country excluding London.
I missed the children in need extravaganza last night, not because I don’t think its a worthy cause (because I do) but simply because that sort if television bores me to death. Instead I started to watch reruns of Downton Abbey which in my opinion is much better television!
