It’s far too early…..even for me!

Now I’m a bit of an early bird but a 3am start is pushing it, the early start is made worse by young Alex and the appearance of another tooth which obviously hurt him. Sadly for all concerned the tooth decided to bother him at around 12:30 am…….

The upside to my early start should be a relatively trouble free drive to London although given the state of our roads I am taking nothing for granted on that front. My route down takes me along the M6 and whilst the toll road is far too expensive it does have the advantage of being traffic free, in fact there is hardly ever a car on it which does make me think that they have not really spent enough time on figuring out their pricing model as on a cost per mile basis it is far more expensive than equivalent motorways in Europe.

Final thoughts before I get into my car and set off……I have been following the debate on the soon to happen Scottish referendum and watched last week’s Question Time with interest as it was all about Scottish independence and what struck me was the absence of questions on the recent white paper published by the SNP. It addresses about some of the issues around independence but then turns into an SNP election pamphlet which leads me to assume that the SNP in government and an independent Scotland are effectively joined at the hip. I fully support the right of the Scottish people to have this vote and accept that there have been many other small countries in remote areas (yes, my Scottish friends, that description also applies to you) that have successfully become independent so in that sense you have nothing to fear, what I would say is that very few of them have enjoyed the advantages of a union such as the UK has provided over the years.
On a personal note, of Scotland does become intendant then it will be much more difficult for labour to come into power in England……every cloud has a silver lining!
