I always seem to be in a reflective mood at Christmas and this year has been no exception. 2013 has certainly had its ups and downs and whilst I am pleased to say that it is ending on a high it would be true to say that I wouldn’t care to repeat a number of the things that I have experienced over the past year. To be honest it’s been a tough couple of years and thinking back I can recall the exact moment when things changed, it was early January 2012 when my former CEO called me to tell me that after 36 years with one company he was leaving. It was that phone call which led to my decision to leave SSP and to take up a role in Egypt (not the smartest thing that I have ever done) and I suppose you could say it led me to where I am now. They say that everything happens for a reason (I’m not entirely sure that I believe this) and if you follow that logic I suppose you could say that I had to go through those experiences to arrive at this point in my life. I am in a place where I consider myself very fortunate both in my work and personal life, fortunate and very grateful. Work wise I have a great opportunity to make a real difference within a fantastic company and at home I have a lovely wife and and a wonderful little boy.
What more could anyone ask for?
