The Christmas holiday is officially over! I am back on the road heading to the Midlands to spend the day with one of my operations team. We are going to be visiting a number of outlets during the day but my main aim is to spend some time getting to know my team member.
Since the start of December I have been putting the feelers out as I am trying to recruit new managers into the business and so far the response has been encouraging with a couple of key vacancies on the way to potentially being filled. I am fully aware that it not going to be easy attracting good people into the business as BHS is not a brand that caterers would naturally consider when planning their next career move, so part of my job is to work with our recruitment team to ensure that we really sell the many advantages to joining this business. We also have to be careful that we target the right individual with a background which will enable them to adapt to our culture and the way in which we do business. I am pretty confident that once people discover what a good company this is to work for and how working here can really help develop them as leaders then I think that we will be able to attract the right people.
Over the next week or so I am going to be working on adapting my presentation for the BHS board as at the moment it is too detailed and the slide deck too lengthy, having given it some thought I have a pretty good idea how I can adapt it and will start work it from tomorrow.
