Quick update

It’s been a good day, albeit a long one. Poor little Alex is not well at all so sleep is in short supply, especially for Moira.

We visited a number of sites today which is something that I enjoy doing as you learn an awful lot about the operation by taking to people who work in our units and I have taken a few things away to work on which I think will add value. I have always tended to work in this way, spending a couple of days in the business and three days in the office as this gives me a real sense of how well our strategy is working. The danger of working in this way is that you can become quite tactical with the temptation to fix things on a store by store basis being ever present. I tend to use these visits to try and spot issues across the business and then work with my team to pull together solutions which will provide a permanent fix. That said, if my plan is on the right track a lot of the issues which I find should slowly be eliminated naturally.
There next few months will see the team engaged in some basic house keeping with the aim of simplifying the operation, once this is done we will be addressing a number of areas where we feel that we need to improve with our aim being to provide our customer with a credible alternative to high street chains…..more detail on this in the coming weeks.
