One of the first things which we are going to do with our menu is introduce a range of healthy products as I am acutely aware that our current menu is very limited when it comes to catering for people who are either health conscious or who have special dietary needs. We don’t plan to go overboard and will ensure that the number if items ranged is appropriate to the sales volume of the outlet as the last thing we want to do is to stock items which we cannot sell through. As the year passes we will be slightly more courageous with the number and type of healthy/low fat items which we will range.
The rest of the work which we are currently undertaking is what I would call basic house keeping, things like competitor price benchmarking and setting up a core range of products for our various brands. These are only a couple of the many initiatives which fall under the “basic house keeping” label but they give you an idea of what we are busy doing.
For me, today is all about finishing my presentation and getting myself ready to head down to London on Monday morning, the purchase of my flat has yet to go through so for the moment I will be living in a travelodge which is not the most glamorous of hotels but it does the job! To be honest, when I am out and about I tend to stay at travelodges as they are generally cheap and usually well maintained. I’m quote tight with money (other people’s as well as my own) and see no point in spending more money in a fancy hotel.
More later.
