That’s was the week that was

It’s been a long but good week which had its ups and downs but overall the good has far outweighed the bad. Here is a quick run down of the main things that happened during the week.
1. The person who I was hoping to bring on board to help with our coffee wasn’t able to join us although we may well end up collaborating.
2. The person who will be helping me out with all things operational and who I believe will make a huge difference started with us last Monday.
3. We have started work on the strategy and made good progress in a number of areas which has left me feeling that we can hit the deadlines which we have imposed.
4. As I have started to reach out and speak to store managers about the future of the food business reaction has been positive.

We have started our range reviews and have come up with a number of good ideas for our Home Store coffee outlets, the plan is to differentiate these outlets from the rest of the BHS outlets as the customer profile and environment are very different. We also plan to make the, very simple operations so that the teams can really focus on giving the customer a great experience.

On a personal note I am no more than a couple of weeks from exchanging on my flat which is great news as living in a variety of travelodges is starting to lose its appeal!

Next week is an important one as I am presenting my strategy to the BHS board so part of my weekend will be spent preparing for this.

Right, time to hit the tread mill!
