Life is rather mixed at the moment, one of my meetings yesterday yielded some potentially real progress as I look to boost our skills training capabilities, this is an area that I have identified as one in which significant progress will result in profitable sales growth. Others things yesterday didn’t quite go my way and I have at least one significant problem looming.
I am sat in Costa waiting for my first meeting of the day to commence before heading back to the office to do some work on my structure before heading off to meet a supplier. I will then be making a rare visit to Arcadia’s head office to present my plan to the group HR director before heading over to Victoria where I will be holding a number of interviews for our Brighton store. I then head back up North where I will be based for the rest of the week. You could say that it’s going to be rather a long day……..
One of my major challenges is how to keep so many plates spinning and at the moment I am spending roughly 10% of my time following up various projects, this is more about supporting my team in their meeting of some very tight deadlines rather than it is about getting involved in everything.
Finally, a note on this blog. As I read back what I have written I realise just how vague I have been about certain things, hopefully people appreciate that I tread a fine line between giving you an insight onto my world and not betraying any confidences. As things become public I plan to go back and reference past events. For example, within a month or so I will be able to come back and give you the detail around what I wrote in the first paragraph of this blog.
Anyway, time to call my wife and remind her that she still has a husband,
