I am on route to pick up a colleague before heading off for some site visits. I’m sat in a Starbucks on the. M1 enjoying a skinny muffin and a black coffee and very nice they are too! The service was fast and efficient and the staff were really lovely which is always a bonus. I quite like Starbucks, mind you having operated 20 or so of their outlets I’m slightly biased. Their coffee is no longer the best in market but their environment is still head and shoulders above the competition. Not edgy, not pretentious, just cosy and welcoming with the music and lighting at just the right levels.
The week so far has been interesting. After our first new range launch I am in a better position to assess what parts of the business need further work. What’s been pleasing has been the reaction of staff and customers which has broadly been positive, we are slowly moving away from the kind of food which we have traditionally delivered and this will be a slow process as we need to ensure that we still appeal to our core customer whilst being able to attract new customers.
I presented to the regional managers yesterday, they had the pleasure of hearing the shortened version of my business plan which seemed to go down ok.
