Yesterday was a good day as we outlined our vision for the food business to a group of managers. The session had bags of energy and pretty much everyone was really engaged. Part of my teams challenge is to instil some self belief into the people who operate our food outlets, they have had a tough time in recent years and in this kind of situation it’s easy it’s easy to become disheartened.
The next big event which is looming large is my teams presentation to our group CEO, I’ve only meeting once (during the recruitment process) so I have been taking a lot of advice on the best ways in which to engage him. We have already done a fair bit or preparation for this event and with some more work I am certain that things will go fine…….I will keep you posted!
I’m out and about again today with a trip over to Yorkshire the first item of the day, I am then meeting up with one of my colleagues before heading off and swapping the front tyres in my car (yes I know, I live an exciting life) then it’s time to get prepared as first thing tomorrow the family is driving down to London to start moving into our flat. It’s nothing fancy but it gives me a base in London which is where I spend a large amount of my time. I won’t be sorry to no longer be living in my local travelodge! I won’t be properly moving in for a few more weeks as I need some time to get things sorted out.
It’s soon going to be a year since I left Egypt. I don’t miss much about the place but I do miss the weather. Getting up to clear blue skies and warm sunshine sure beats listening to the sound of rainfall.
