Ups and downs

It’s fair to say that this role has been one of the most challenging of my career, trying to reawaken a sleeping giant whilst changing its culture and changing customers perception is no easy task. The are days when I think that my team and I are winning and days where I am not quite as upbeat! Thankfully, with the passing of time things have been improving. I have an engaged and motives team who are brimming with ideas and have the talent and experience to enable them to make those ideas a reality. The wider business is starting to get excited about the possibilities for future growth and now that they can see (and taste) the quality of our new products they understand just what it is we are trying to do. Our challenge now is to drive sales through fantastic customer service and a large part of my roadshow is dedicated to talking through our newly embedded success factors as well as discussing ways in which we can drive improved performance.
Yesterday was a mix of highs (we are working on our classic fish and chips and think we have a found a way to take the quality to a whole new level) and lows as one of the people who was set to join us changed their mind at the last minute. These things happen and you just have to shrug them off and get working on how to put things right.
