I’ve spent quite a bit of time reflecting on the past year with the aim of ensuring that I didn’t repeat some of the mistakes made. Now, the time for naval gazing is over and this week is all about ensuring that operationally we are in the best possible place to take advantage of Christmas. I have to confess to having a certain amount of concern as we enter the festive period as many high street businesses are either posting profit warnings or talking about reduced footfall.
In order to best support our outlets the entire operations team will be posting their movements for the next couple of months onto the company intranet, we will be conducting only a minimal number of unannounced visits preferring to put our focus on supporting our frontline teams. I plan to pick up a number of stores both in Cheshire and Essex and plan to spend three days a week carrying out coaching visits. This will not only support those stores but allow the area managers to focus their time more effectively on stores that require additional support.
