You have good days and bad

One of the things that I love about what I do are the ups and downs of my daily life, my work here in Kuwait is never dull and boring! Whenever I speak to people about my career I always talk about the fact that whilst being cautious by nature (it’s the Yorkshireman in me) I have always put myself “out there” in terms of my career. I could have stayed with Pret and had a much more straightforward career but I would have learned a lot less and been a less effective leader. Whilst I took a much tougher path to where I am now I’ve had an incredible time, worked with some amazingly talented people, been exposed to new ways of doing things and visited some fantastic places. It’s been tough going at times (the 5 months immediately after my return rom Egypt being a real low point) but the highs have more than compensated for the lows. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason although sometimes that reason may not be immediately clear.

Today is my usual hectic Monday but I’m quite looking forward to getting into the office, I am seeing some sights of progress which is always encouraging and which is demonstrating that I am no heading east looking for a sunset. It’s still early days!
