There have been a number of people who have had a profound influence on me and over the next few posts I would like to explain why, I’m not going to name names but people who have worked with me will know who I am referring to.
The first person was a guy who was operations director a Pret A Manger many years ago, he saw that I had potential and eventual,y promoted me to area manager. What really inspired me about him was the effortless way in which he interacted with people at all levels, the teams loved him as he had this real ability to make you feel good about yourself. He was genuinely interested in the people who worked for him and was able to quickly build a rapport with people. He managed to come across as laid back and charming whilst at the same time being very passionate and results orientated. Sadly I never got to work for him directly but even observing him from a far enabled me to lean an awful lot.
