yesterday was my birthday, sadly I’m at an age where birthdays are not something I wish to celebrate as they just remind me how ancient I am! The Vital support centre team bought me a lovely card and cake which was really nice of them and made my day.
I’m spending part of the day out and about in shops and then spending the rest of the day doing some work on team member pay. Despite our small size we are working hard in becoming an employer of choice and part of this is paying people a wage that they can live on, this isn’t going to be easy for a business such as ours as we are very labour intensive and the lion’s share of our sales occur at lunch time. This won’t stop us trying! Becoming an employer of choice isn’t all about pay,how you treat people and the opportunities that you offer them are also important.
We are now on the lookout for new sites! It would be great to do one more new shop this year and the hopefully open four or five shops next year.
