This is my last working day this week as I’m taking the next couple of days off to spend its my family. I try and take a couple of days off every few months as this helps me recharge my batteries.
I’m planning to spend most of today in and around our stores as it’s been a while since I spent some time with managers. The focus of my conversations with them will be morning and delivery sales as well as stock and labour control, during these visits it’s important that I echo what my operations team have to been telling managers as I don’t want people receiving mixed messages. At the end of the day I am planning a debrief session with my head of operations plus a meeting with my head of training as its a while since we caught up. He has now started our Vital Standard Reviews and for the moment is carrying out coaching visits as part of the support which we are offering managers. Eventually he will move to unannounced and scored visits but these are well into the future as for the moment we need to engage our managers and our teams and ensure that the review is seen as a tool to help them improve their business rather than a stick to beat them with. This of course is going to take time and we plan to take things slowly as its important that we raise our game. The reviews will be focusing on keeping our stores clean and safe but also on driving profitable sales as the sim to help manager put things in place that will help deliver a consistent expereince for our customers.
Today’s photograph is a reminder that we deliver and have some tasty platters so please pick up a leaflet instore or check out our website.
