It’s a grim morning here in Cheshire, this is on the back of a really cold week which doesn’t really help salad sales, on the positive side, our hot food sales broke all sorts of records last week which is hugely encouraging.
What has also been encouraging is how our staff turnover continues to drop on the back of the staff engagement initiatives which we launched a few months ago, it was quite a complex project as it not only focused on Vital as a whole but also targeted shops and managers who had high turnover. The work done on internal promotions (nearly three quarters of our store management teams started as team members) but also the work done on creating a culture where having fun becomes part of the day job and where everyone’s work/life balance is important to us. Still lots of work to do but I’m full of admiration for the work that training, HR and operations have put into this project
