One of the real dangers in doing a role similar to mine is getting yourself bogged down in the little stuff, minutiae, ephemera or whatever else you wish to call it. Sometimes the day job overtakes you, those carefully constructed routines which you are confident will give your day some structure which will ultimately make you more productive are not all that they are cracked up to be. Sometimes you just need to step outside your bubble and decide what’s important and ensure that you response is both proportional and appropriate. One thing that I have learnt over the years is that sometimes you just need to move quickly and accept the odd bump in the road.
