I recently took part in a really interesting NED forum hosted by the wonderful people at Page Executive. Amongst all the notes I made there were some real standouts which I wanted to share with my network.
- A key activity for NEDs in the current climate is one where we focus on the mindset of our execs, the world is currently very ambiguous and there is a real need for people to stay positive
- Everyone is looking at new mediums with which to transact business so its important to not use the same material through new mediums
- Most NEDs that I have spoken to are far more involved than usual with the exec, this is fine but you need to consider how you can remain independent and able to offer a different perspective.
- Part of the “new normal” will be more flexible and informal working.
