Everything I read and everyone I speak to makes me ever more concerned about the central London hospitality market. Let’s be clear, the streets are empty as by and large is the transport system. Without office workers and commuters there is no central London hospitality market and with no hospitality market there will be no jobs.
It’s been interesting to watch how businesses have attempted to adapt their offering although the reality is that these adaptations will not be as profitable as their regular trade. My sense is that the high volume, high occupancy cost model is no longer fit for purpose. The big question is what (if anything) will replace it.
