Looking Forward

There is very little to be cheerful about this New Year’s Eve as most of the country is in lock down. 2020 has been an awful year for so many people and my heart goes out to people who have lost loved ones or who have had careers and businesses shattered by the virus. Christmas was all but cancelled and NYE looks like being a damp squib.

There are glimmers of hope for 2021. We have a range of vaccines available and we should hopefully see some normality return at some point next year. Hospitality is going to see something of a revival and all of the innovation that has gone into mitigation the effects of the pandemic should give the industry a boost in the coming years.

I’m quietly confident about next year. The GJC team has done some good work behind the scenes and we are in good shape for the coming year.

On a personal note, it’s been great to spend more time with my family, to be out of the pressure cooker which was Patisserie Valerie and to be involved in an interesting variety of projects where I feel that I have been adding value.

Finally, I hope everyone has the best NYE celebrations they can and that for everyone 2021 will be a better year.
