I’m sat having breakfast in my hotel ahead of a drive back to the North West. I’m reflecting on a week where we have made progress but the team have spent a lot of time fire fighting. Our head of food has been particularly heroic as she divided her time between arranging products for Ireland after a shipment failed, finding cups, managing suppliers and working towards moving away from our own warehousing and distribution. It’s been a painful week but have a clear sense of where we need to be with both our supply chain and our products and despite the fire fighting we have been making moves towards this.
I always expected a bumpy ride, despite everyone’s best efforts there is no way that a business that has been through everything that the last 18 months could throw at it was ever going to be problem free. The is nothing that cannot be solved and with some careful planning and smart decision making I’m certain that the team can make the necessary changes.
Some of my most enjoyable moments this week have been during my zoom calls with the bar manages. There has been a lot for them to take in and my taking the time to explain things and answer their questions appears to have been well received.
