I’m in the office today for a number of meetings, the heads of department meeting is the most important of them as we are getting the team together for a longer session where we can discuss some of the issues that still face the business. The biggest discussion point will be around ways of working as we are just about emerging from the first phase of this project which involved working at break neck speed to ensure that the business had a future.
The initial phase of a turnaround is always stressful, even for someone like me that’s been there before. It’s also the most crucial phase as any mistake could potentially have longer term repercussions on the viability of the business. Trust me when I tell you that the last nine months have been a real slog but as we emerge from this period the business is on a good place.
On a personal note, home life has also been a little stressful as Alex is doing exceptionally well at table tennis, he has been invited to compete in the upcoming under 11 UK wide competition which for a 9 year old is some achievement. As parents, our challenge is not to push him too hard but at the same time helping ensure that he gives it his best shot.
