Cost of goods

It’s another work from home day as I continue to tie up loose ends.

I’ve been following the economic situation with interest over the past few days as a devalued pound will rack up the price of imports which will further impact margins within our industry at a time that we cannot afford for this to happen. At AMT we have spent a large amount of time battling with our cost of goods and it’s taken us a while to get above where we finished last year. This is hardly ideal as this years business plan was predicated on improving our margin which we felt was going to be achievable since we had made a number of improvements on how we controlled our weekly in store cost of goods. Sadly, we have not had the option of “shopping around” with different suppliers as prices have increased across the board.

The situation has stabilised somewhat which is a real credit to the team and their hard work although we are far from certain that we have seen the last of the price increases for this year
