New Year’s Eve Disaster Part 2

So here I am, it’s NYE, it’s pouring with rain, my tyre is as flat as a pancake and I don’t have much range left. In addition to this, I have a car full of people.

After an initial moment of panic I get onto the AA whilst my brother uses the cars puncture repair kit…….the kit is a total waste of time (I really don’t see why all cars cannot be fitted with a space saver spare) and the AA are busy…….thankfully a patrol arrives but the bad news is that they cannot do much to repair tyres. To his credit, the AA man manages to patch it up on a temporary basis whilst I ring every emergency tyre replacement company I can find. Just as I am about to give up I get a call back from a company who can replace the tyre for less than £200……

With my brother taking everyone home, all that remains for me to do is to get the car to a fast charging point with what appears to be zero range remaining. The AA man kindly agrees to follow me (his reasoning is that if I run out of charge then he will need to come back and recover the car). After the slowest journey on record (making full use of the KERS system) I finally arrive at the charging point at the same time as the tyre replacement people.

The alternative to spending NYE in a desolate car park with the AA and the tyre people for company was to have the car recovered to the local Kwik Fit and hoping that they would repair it when the reopened on Tuesday. Thankfully the car was sorted and I made it back to my hotel before midnight
