Yesterday was a longish day as I had to make up for lost time. It was a good day as we made some real progress on our medium term food strategy. These sessions have been very beneficial for me as not only have we been discussing new ideas and how to fit those ideas into an overall plan I am getting a good understanding of what has been done previously and if it hasn’t quite worked I’ve understood why not.
The food part of the plan is now nearly there and today the focus shifts back to operations where we have the rather tricky task of coming up with ways to drive the business whilst at the same time trying to trial and them implement a new structure. Thus far this has been an interesting challenge and who that has had me doing a lot of thinking. At the moment the “food” team isn’t actually responsible for operating the outlets, this is undertaken by the retail operations team, within the business there is an appetite to review this system and perhaps evolve it and that’s what I have been reflecting on for a while.
I am certainly enjoying every minute of my new role and am please to be working with some lovely people and pleased to be part of the team which will hopefully bring the glory days back to this British institution.
