Sunday morning reflections

I’m writing this as I watch my son play rugby. Now I need to qualify that latest statement as he’s only 4 and attends Rugby Tots as opposed to the adult version. I have to confess to knowing very little about the sport although I know the basics.

Anyway, having got that preamble out of the way it’s time to turn my attention to the world of Vital. This job has been all consuming in a way that none of my previous roles have come close and I’m not sure why. I’ve always thrown myself into my work and given it 100% even when my boss has done little to deserve that dedication (I won’t name names but a certain Egyptian jumps to mind) but this role is different.

Is it because of the roller coaster ride that the business has been on since I joined? I’m not sure as we have had our ups and downs in the (close) to two years that I have been here and somehow we have always survived and sometimes against the odds and I suspect that we will continue to survive. In fact, the work that we are doing should ensure that the brand thrives.

So it’s not the highs and lows that have made it all consuming.

To be honest, it’s probably that at the grand old age of 50 this role is the one that will probably define my career.

That’s enough for now but I will return to this subject at a later date
