I’m working from home today as one day a month I get to take my son to school, it’s not ideal but then working in London and living in Cheshire is never going to be ideal with regards to family life. The huge positive around this arrangement is that my family live in a lovely village in a far nicer and larger house than we could ever hope to afford in the south east close to my wife’s family and friends. My son attends the local village school which has an excellent reputation.
Work wise I have a day of operations focused conference calls for most of it plus some admin and project work to catch up on. I’ve really enjoyed being more involved in operations and I’m spending a lot of time in shops which I could do during my illness. We are a small business and in my view it’s essential that the MD stays close to the detail, little issues can quickly escalate into much larger problems if you don’t get on top of them quickly and being much closer to the shops allows me to do this
