Good morning (talking about internal promotions)

Another day another early start. This morning I am out and about with one of our area managers, we promoted her into the role a few months ago and she has done an amazing job in her area in a short space of time.

One of the things that I am proudest about during my time here at Vital is the sheer amount of internal progression which we have seen. All but one of our team leaders is an internal, all but one of our assistant managers is internal and getting on for two thirds of our general managers is internal. Our tow area managers started life as general managers with us and our training manager started as a team member. All of this didn’t happen by accident as my first hire was an experienced head of training who put together a fantastic career path plus a training plan to support this. We also have in place a comprehensive set of behaviours and this year have been undertaking performance reviews with our teams. Finally, we have a monthly succession meeting where we look at the gaps in our shop family trees and agree actions to fill those gaps but also focus on talented individuals and put in place lans to help them realise their potential.its hard work but our payback has been huge.
