Succession Planning

I’m a great believer in building “bench strength” within a business and I also believe that this doesn’t happen without careful planning and a commitment to develop people in their stores. For me, Pret did an amazing job of developing their people with a well defined career path, lots of on job training and coaching plus an array of courses aimed at developing softer skills. They routinely monitored people’s progress and ensured that everyone had a career plan which mapped out their progression through the business.

I have tried to implement something similar in the various businesses that I have been involved with and had varying degrees of success.

My mantra has always been “you cannot grow a business without first growing its people”

I have a weakness for the Triumph TR6 and this photo shows a batch of them progressing through the manufacturing process.
