One of the advantages of working as a consultant is that you work on a variety of projects which means that you become exposed to a greater number of situations which you are able to learn from. Since finishing with Patisserie Valerie I have sat in on a number of funding pitches which has been a great learning experience. I have also been directly involved in Landlord renegotiations as well as negotiations for new locations. I have also spent quite a bit of time looking at the property market.
I have also done a lot more with spreadsheets that I had previously as with the help of some really talented finance directors I now have a 3 year plan and investment model which I can use for various clients which is really useful and it’s been a great learning experience being involved in putting it together.
