Grim times

It’s been a pretty grim week, the COVID crisis continues unabated with staggering numbers of dead recoded on a daily basis. I worry that this current lockdown will not be enough to suppress the virus as it’s nowhere nearly strict enough. It was inevitable really, people are fatigued, tired of minimal social contact, fearful of losing their jobs and not being able to afford to live or fearful of losing their businesses and everything that they have worked for. It appears that the only real way out of this mess is mass vaccination and I, like many other are eagerly awaiting the latest update on the numbers vaccinated. My 82 year old mother had her jab at the end of December which I’m obviously pleased about. I’m less pleased about my wife going to school each day to teach a class which at least 50% as large as it was pre lockdown.

Work wise, I am taking a day off today but will be busy tomorrow as I have quite a lot to get through prior to some quite important meetings early next week.
