I’ve been unusually quiet this week, this is because I’ve taken on a new client plus a one off landlord renegotiation which has taken up some time. I have also been busy working closely with Change Please’s CEO on a project, this has been both challenging and interesting. All of my clients are quite active at the moment, three of them are funding raising, two of them are looking to make acquisitions and one is gearing up to start franchising later on in the year. All of this makes my life interesting and varied and I am learning at lot and hopefully adding value.
I parted company with one of my clients this week, it was perfectly amicable but I had reach the point where I was no longer adding value as what they needed from me was beyond my skill set. I have always worked on the basis that if I cannot add value or if I don’t think that I am suited to a particular project that I won’t go for it. Some people may well disagree with this stance but consulting is not like being in a full time role, you don’t have time to settle in as you have to hit the ground running so learning on the job really doesn’t work.
