The papers are full of news about another lockdown, perhaps as early as Wednesday this week. This will finish off the hospitality industry and before some idiot talks to me about “saving Christmas” they need to understand that it won’t be much of a Christmas for people out of work and with no money. It won’t be much of a Christmas for the high street as people quite rightly will be afraid to spend too much money. It won’t be Christmas for hospitality as people may well not book large office parties (partly because they will be unable to and partly because firms will also be cutting back) which means that the December will be a write off and then we will have the two months which are traditionally the toughest of the year. It’s going to be a bloodbath.
Finally, there are people rioting in Europe, protesting against restrictions and I foresee something similar here. People have had enough.
